New Cb750(82) owner here in Boston MA area

My name is Poe. 1982 CB750c with 16k for $300 (stuck float/new battery needed). I plan on stripping it down. Flat black frame, tank, and more. I will make a build thread during the process.....BTW this bike is older than me.

No, I'm not chopping it. I plan on extending the rear swingarm 2". This will give me a slightly more aggressive drop in the rear. The front, I don't know what to do to lower it. Any help on that will be appreciated.

When he said he was planning on stripping it down, the general thought was as in bike parts and not paint, thus the chopper link. The K model forks are 2" shorter than the C model. You can pick up an inch just by moving the forks up in the triple tree

Are the K model forks a direct bolt on (remove/replace)? I'm definitely going to experiment with the triple tree advice. Thank you

Loosen the bolts, let the forks slide up, be sure and support the bike!

I heard that you can adjust these rear shocks an inch lower. Is that true?

Only by cutting coils off the spring or relocating the mount point.

Is your tank dented, or is that just a reflection?
If you are planning on painting it black, I'd suggest finding someone with a tank suitable for painting and trade them.
Tanks in original livery are getting hard to come by. Seems a shame to waste a factory paint job if it's in good shape.

Will cutting coils affect ride quality much? Not dented tank, reflection.

I'd say that the stock shocks are not the most robust in the world. Cutting the spring is going to do a couple things.
1. It'll shorten the available compression stroke, making it easier to bottom out.
2. At full extension, the seats of the spring could move away from the coils, causing the spring to rattle around a bit. This could get annoying.
3. The shock is held together by a retainer similar to the valve spring retainers. This kind of retainer relies on pressure from the spring to keep it locked in. So, in theory at least, cutting the coils too short could result in spontaneous disassembly of the shock absorber.

The safer route would be to locate a shock that uses similar mounts but has a shorter end to end length. I'd investigate 450 cc and smaller bikes as possible donors.
