Skype!!

By member request the forums are now Skype enabled.

For those not familiar with Skype, itâ€™s free telephone service using the Internet. (Voice Over IP) It works extremely well with quality that is as good if not better than a standard landline. http://www.skype.com

If you have Skype, enter your Skype name in your Profile and a Skype button will appear under your messages. This button will only work for others with Skype installed.

Check it out and give it a try!

I have Skype and use it with a friend of mine instead of the Yahoo IM because the audio and video quality are much better.
Skype does not have photo share like yahoo does but you can exchange files. It is pretty cool.

Are you people afraid of the Skype monster or something?
Skype is free and pretty cool, it is better than Yahoo IM.

I just downloaded Skype . Went thru the set up and restarted to reset settings .

I was unable to use my browser , until I deleted Skype .

I tried Skype a few years back and had similar problems .

I don't know why ...

I use Skype with no issue but you may have a dinosaur PC or you use something other than IE

Well , my PC is not the latest an greatest , but I would think Skype would run on win2k with 1.6 gig amd processor . And yes I'm using IE6 ...

I would think skype is more about the bandwidth than the cpu cycles.

pd... what kind of error were you getting upon starting your browser?

I would click on the link to this site or any ... in favorites and a box would pop up saying that windows had detected an error and would have to close the program ( which wasn't even open yet ) and that that program would have to be restarted .

Then another box saying that the site was not accessable .

Note : those never happened before downloading Skype and haven't since I removed it ...

Sounds like your problem is pretty universal.

I wouldn't try the first option of upgrading, since I'm assuming you got the latest release.

I reinstalled Skype . LESS the IE addin under OPTIONS .

It seems to be working , but haven't rec'd anything to confirm that .

I found an old telephone mic ... not sure I could get it to work .

I think I better plan on picking up a decent mic .

ebay has microphones dirt cheap and they are cool.
I bought one like this for $4.95 plus shipping and totalled it came to $10.00

It is only 5 inches tall

I actually had 4 of those real deal mics many years ago Rolling Eyes

They were ribbon mics and made by Sure Brothers... model 55S or 55SW or something close. Real money back then. 8)

You know we could all be talking to each other in confrence for free with excellent sound quality. That way we would be hearing all different accents at one time and you all would sound funny.
