Hi all, just bought an 81 CB900C with around 50k miles last week. My first inline 4. I look forward to interacting with you all.

One issue I plan on researching is that sometimes you must play with the clutch lever to get the bike to turn over to start. The previous owner thought it was the start solenoid, but I haven't looked into it yet. Any help youd be appreciated.

Welcome to the site Rich ... Smile

We have a FSM free to download in our Tech Docs section .

Sounds like the switch in the clutch lever perch needs attention .

Agree with pd. Take it apart and clean it up. Welcome aboard. That's two or three new Mainers just recently. Must be a sale on DOHC's somewhere near Penobscot! Laughing

It should start in neutral without pulling the clutch in too. Sounds like the neutral switch is dirty too.

We should have a Maine/New Brunswick ride. Meet halfway or something. Maybe even let the Nova Scotians and our lone PEI'er come along.

I suppose I should've posted that I'm in South Portland. If we can get a ride together I would definitely be interested in attending.

Crockett, where exactly are you?

Pirate, I'd like to see a picture. My first 900 was an 81. It died with about 36K on it, I sold it to a guy in Westbrook that rebuilt The carbs and the air shock and rode it for a couple years. It was painted light blue last time I saw it.

PD keep me in mind if you guys ever head into NH. I ride a lot around the ME NH border. HMR, Rt 113.

I'll try to get a picture to post this week. I bought it from a guy in Limington who said he had it for 5 years. He said the previous owner said the motor died at about 27K miles, and it was rebuilt by a shop somewhere up his way. As it sits it is a metallic dark silver (for lack of a better explanation), but he said he repainted it a couple of times.

You see quite a few 900Cs around here. My first one came up from NC via my brother. My neighbor bought this one new, I bought it from him when he dicided to buy a HD. 27 years it had never been riden in the rain. This year I have been cought twice already.

Hey guys, Mainers are taking over. I live in Lisbon, I actually bought my bike off a guy on here about 4months ago. I ride everyday, even in the rain. I have a 81 cb750c and I love it. Welcome to the site.
