Just brought home an 81 CB900C. It was running two years ago then was taken apart to café racer it. Nothing cut or torched but everything from the carbs back to the rear wheel is in pieces. Little tiny pieces.

I have lots of experience on many different bikes but may need some help putting this back together. Most particularly the electrics and the back brake apparatus.

Right now I am pouring over pictures and the Honda CB 900 C and F Manual to try to figure it out as I pull the pieces out of boxes, clean them, and line them up for re-installation.

The bike has over 70,000 kms but had an engine rebuild, and cosmetic work less than 10,000 kms ago. Four into one exhaust, black out paint on engine and wheels and forks. Had a nice deep green fleck paint job that has been scratched on the tank and destroyed on one side cover. I may try to match and patch.

Will post pics when I figure out how to.

So yesterday I cleaned sanded and painted the battery box and re-installed it today and I am confident I have the electrics figured out except maybe the exact routing.

One question - what does the Control Unit on these bikes do exactly?

I should have mentioned that the previous previous owner removed the air shocks in the back. Having owned a naked 81 GoldWing in the past where I constantly fought to get a stiff ride, I am interested to see how this handles without the air shocks.

And thanks for the welcomes - and we are getting some of the wrap around from the Nova Scotia snow storm right now.

The control unit on the 900C is for the air suspension light on the tachometer.
