Just joined the forum and looking forward to lots of armchair riding.
Bought an 82 900 C a couple weeks ago. It's pretty rough, but I've rescued worse. This one had the space between the oil seal and the dust cover on the front shocks filled with RTV. Not surprisingly it didn't work very well..
I replaced the oil seals last night and this morning replaced all the lubricants and filters. When I removed the drain plug from the sub-transmission, nothing came out! I stuck a zip tie up inside and wriggled it around. Stinky brown goop started dripping out slowly. Rode it for 24 miles (the first time I rode it since I bought it), and the speedometer cable came loose and I lost the cable. Have to buy a cable and a clip, and change all the fluids again to cycle the mud out.
I've determined that I am going to restore this bike a bit at a time while continuing to ride it. |

Thanks, guys!
OldTimer, I'm wondering. Since you have a 900 and a 1K, which of the two do you prefer, and why? |
