Hello all. I am brand new to the forum and pretty new to the Honda CB world. I am in the process of restoring a 1980 CB750C. I like the original gas tank but it seams to be beyond repair from all the rust. I am sure I could braze it and use a tank liner but I am not 100% sure it would be reliable. So my question is, does anyone know of a gas tank maker that makes a tank that looks similar to to original or a tank that would fit? I have searched several places and have not found one that was specifically made just for my model. I have considered a original as well but am a tad skeptical about getting a rusted tank. Thanks for the help

Welcome to the site Allen . Smile
You might get lucky and find a used tank that needs nothing , but , consider repairing your tank .
Remove as much rust as possible . Spray the affected area with a couple coats of something like Flex Seal . Let cure well and then coat the inside with a quality liner . I used Red Kote and am impressed . Caswell's is top shelf and has an excellent reputation .

Welcome here!

I've never heard of a suitable replacement for the stock tank. A 900c tank might fit, but they may be a tiny bit longer.

Problem is the huge relief clearance on the bottom necessary to fit over the 3 pipe backbone unique to these DOHC Honda bikes.

Thanks for the replies. I know each to his own but I really like the stock tank so I will try and repair it.
I was thinking of leading the tank, then doing a good acetone flush to get all the old tank liner out, once I know it’s all gone I can coat with red kote. The flex seal sounds good but I think it might be desolved by the acetone. I know I have to get all the old tank seal out so it does not trap any moister behind it and do further damage. Gene Winfield has a great video on YouTube from Eastwood. Please let me know if any of the steps catch your eye as a potential problem. Thx

Here is a pic. Still lots to do. The 80 is just a concept that we might stay with. The tank was tested before the paint but somehow the gas found its way….. uggggg

Try saving it as about 640x480 or so, then attach it.

Heard nothing but good about them. Plus they are suppose to come synced and tuned, and if they ever need syncing or tuning again it will be way better to do two instead of four.
I got the tank all stripped last night. I will upload photos of the finish project.

If you want your tank lined with a life of bike warranty, send it to www.gastanklining.com and Tony will hook up your tank with an epoxy lining you can get no where else on the planet
That's a lifetime warranty you'll never find an equal to.
