Private Messages

If you have a technical question, post a thread, don't PM people. If you have a question about some aspect of motorcycle maintenance or building, the rest of the people may benefit from the discussion as well. Also someone else might come up with a better solution, and we all get to learn something. The mods, admins, and frequent posters here are not your personal valets and tool fetchers, so just post in the open forum and someone will be along to help you.

If you post a thread and I don't respond, it might be because I don't know the answer, or I might be unavailable, or I'd like someone else to get the chance to help you.

If it's a discussion of price or negotiations, then a PM is proper and preferable to a public discussion. Also personal "howdy"s and such are OK in PMs. Private matters are, of course, what Private Messages are for. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind non-technical PMs at all. One of the guys PMd me about some audio, another about computers. This kind of off topic friendly stuff is OK, but if it's about bikes, it belongs in the open forum.

I generally won't be answering "how to" PMs about bikes in the future... please put them in the open forum for all to see, just like this message.

Also please learn to use the search function. We get PMs from people about questions that have already been asked and answered many, many times, and that's just plain annoying.

Don't send PMs to the admin account, they will not be answered. If you have forum business to discuss, PM one of the administrators by username instead, holysmokes, D-Day, or genesound.

That admin account is only used for special purposes, and the PMs are not regularly read or answered.
