I am new here, and am considering the purchase of an "81 CB750K. I would liek to know something about these bikes. I've never owned a Honda 750 and am unfamiliar with them. How do they handle, and how hard is it maintaining them? Thanks!

I like mine . Not going to give it up anytime soon .

Once you have them tuned in to how you ride , they handle just right and are an easy keeper .

Parts are for the most , available .

You'll find all the help in up keep and mods FREE , right here on this site . ( that's the best part Wink

Thanks PD750. I am familiar with Hondas in general, but having never owned a 750 I was wondering. Sounds like I should go ahead and get it. They say it runs great, and are asking $850. Sound like a good price?

That may be a fair price depending : odometer reading ; cosmetics ; what it will need ; overall condition ...

Take a few pictures and post them . I'm sure you'll get at least a few comments . Smile

Odometer reads 31,104....is that high enough to cause problems?

Welcome to DOHC Customs
If the motor was well maintained before you got your hands on it, 31,000 miles is about average.
If the motor was not well taken care of, a top end over haul would be the hot ticket or maybe a big bore kit.
K-Models are cool. 8)

All I know is that he says it is running well, has new paint, and needs nothing but a new rear tire.

Do these require an unordinate amount of maintenance? I am used to older Harleys. I just sold a Yamaha 650 Seca, but it had many troubles with ignition and carbs. How are the carbs and electrics on the CB to work on?

if you can fix a hardley dangerous bike and run a yamaha

a 750 honda will be a breeze

That is a 750c front end & wheels just like I did to my 1st 79 K-Model, look at the cluster.

It is a better thing than the front end that was on there before, yes.
The K-Model only came with a single disc in the front in this country and to get dual disc like you have, you had to rob another model to get it to work.

My 1st 79 K-Model was clocked with GPS @ 132mph and if she had a fairing, she would have gone faster but, I ride naked bikes. Twisted Evil

The engine did have a minor modification though, there was a Wiseco 823 kit with slightly jetted carbs plus an air box.

I just called the owner of this bike. Someone is coming to look at it now, but if he doesn't buy it, he will call me back. If he does, I will go look at it tomorrow morning.

Good luck on the purchase, you can't go wrong with a DOHC Honda.
