So I just got off the phone with Tim's cousin Glen. He says he has heard back from Tims brother that Tim is somewhere in the bush near Clearwater. A message has been sent out to him and a reply back soon is expected.

I guess he is just being a bushman out in the toolies. More news when it surfaces.

Like the kid that brings the basketball to the court. He leavesâ€Ĥ Game over. That was somewhat shitty of him. Especially after everyone donated money to keep the site going.

Yeah, if he's having trouble it's a drag and some compassion is warranted, but we got thrown out with the wash.

Well, it will be interesting to hear Tims side of it. I suspect that he may have thought that he had all the parts in place and the thing paid for but for some reason something went sideways. It could have been a very simple thing but because he was the only one with the keys it couldn't be fixed. He (we) should have had an alternate administrator with the host.

It also would have been nice to have seen a message before he left, something like: "I'm off to the Great North to plink some varmints and commune with nature for a few months."

Even so, he'll always be welcome here as far as I'm concerned and lessons learned.

Yes, Glenn has server backups. And, I'll soon be doing backups also.

Glenn still has all the keys to everything on the site so that makes two of us. I do not plan on leaving this responsibility just to him so will be sharing the keys with trusted others. Just need some extra time to look through all the security settings and document what to do with the keys.

More to come but don't worry. I'm spending what time I can on this but rest assured that if I float off into the ether tonight (the fireflies are gathering) the site will remain.

To those of little faith and strong accusation, give me a break will ya for shits sake!!!

Our move was a lil more than the average move, having to cram 20 years of crap, a workshop, outside storage and 7000 sq ft of house stuff into a few trailers and arrange storage for all. We are living in our RV by choice now with no permanent roots anywhere. I have only had a couple quick connections to the internet up til now. Finally we are settled for a while and helping out a friend who has stage 3 lung cancer which is also in his lymph nodes. Our move of course did not go as planned, the fella with lung cancer was going to be up our way to help out as well as my sis in laws husband. All good plans right, well we write off one assistant due to cancer, and the other one, well his mother took ill as the move was starting, and she died 2 weeks before we moved. He was to take and did finally take the bulk of my building materials and such as well as help with the move. What happened in the end was I had to spend a few days helping him take stuff I was giving to him, kinda backwards but we managed.

Needless to say things got somewhat chaotic. We did not have a net connection til just recently and have still been very busy helping out my buddy and his family! So I thought I had my priorities straight!!!

I do have a site backup, I did have things set up to move the site to a larger server, I did pay the bill as always and have automatic payments set up as I have had all along, all things were pretty much taken care of and I did expect to have a net connection after being offline for maybe a week at most. Of course things went for shit as always!

So jump all over my ass if ya want but I do know where my priorities are and things should have went along smoothly other than perhaps a bandwidth issue which should have been self resolving after a few days.

I will get us a new server so bandwidth is no longer an issue and talk with glenn about the redirect. I do have a life tho and will be driving my buddy 4 hours round trip for chemo each day til Friday. Hopefully I will squeeze in some computer time and get things going again soon!

So once again, I did not skip town with the bit of funding I received and do have a life, hang in there and I will get the site back online. To those who wish to piss in my shreddies, screw you, a website is not at the top of my priorities, especially since it should have run fine and was paid for well in advance!

To the rest of ya, bear with me, life has been a bit crazy lately and everything that could go wrong pretty much did for a while!

Cheers
Tim aka Wildcat

Sorry we're all pissy Tim, I'm as guilty as anybody. Sounds like you had your share of problems and are helping others with their's too. Sorry to hear about your loss and friend's illness.

This site is on Glenn's server as you have probably figured out. We had a different interim free site for about two weeks that the host lost during an upgrade due to backup failure. The .net site went down on Sat. June 16 and we just wanted to keep it going and not lose everybody again to attrition.

When you get settled, maybe we can merge, or maybe you just want to resurect the .net site. I'm just glad you made it back, and that you're relatively OK.

Gene

Hell, I just hope you get to ride once in a while. Not sure if we need another DOHC site. This one is pretty nice. So no worries there. Best of wishes to you and your family.

Tim, I'm very happy that you didn't end up in a ditch. You're a stand up guy so the worry was genuine and expressed much more than any hint of a scheme. Sorry also for your loss and worries about your friend's health. I've been the friend of the chemo patient a couple of times (one was 6 years old) so can relate.

At this point, I can't see moving back to the old site. I'll admit I may be think selfishly since I've spent hours getting this one to where it is. We're safe, secure and building momentum. I'd be happy to put up a Poll to see what others think.

Again...welcome back and what a relief!
David
