this is my thoughts on something that we all can maybe learn from,in the last 4 years , my life went to hell many times, but i have also rose to the top..

during my down and out stages, I could be abusive and annoying to our members and not only that, but also degrading to myself

I have seen the light and have tried to better myself online and in my personal life, and believe that I have somewhat achieved my goals,

its easy to call names . act like a prick, be abusive to another person,when you are thousands of miles away, behind a closed door

good natured ribbing is a boost to as forum, but negative degrading crap. detracts from a forum and puts a dark cloud over our online life

I am not here to call someone out and down, but to remind everybody that we are all together in the raft we call life and common decency is a must

I have actually considered calling it quits lately. and I am one of the elder members here.it takes alot to dissapoint and frustrate me to the point of jumping ship

what annoys me the most, is i actually lose sleep over this place..and that is not a good sign

is this a reminder..yes it is..and i do it for the good of all

Hang in there buddy, I do this mostly just for laughs. Some serious things happen here, but this is really just entertainment, regardless. My advice is worth exactly what's paid for it. Screw guilt. Wink

Lately I just lose sleep.
I find it very aggrivating and frustrating because I used to be rested when I woke up, not lately. I wake up pissed off and then my poor wife has to see me like that and maybe someone here might catch my hell which is not fair to anyone else.
I wish only the best for any of you except choppers or PODS on CV users.

we do need to pull together, I was the head of a few places I worked at, open up, close shop, organize appointments, handle customers and their complaints

to be brutally honest

if i was a new member or a potential new member, I would turn and run away from this place

and that is the factual truth

in 1982 i hired my best friend at the shop i ran, 2 weeks later i fired him

he was poor, needed help, but by hiring him on, me being his friend, figured he could take 30 minute breaks , 10 times a day

i felt terrible firing him, but for the good of my shop, and my integrity , i let him go

we all have to take responsibilty for our actions,there isnt any free ride, not anywhere I have ever found

and , to be honest, I dont want free riders or to be given a ticket to go for a free ride

it can be done, i read forums all the time, gathering info,and tech ..we have the foundation. lets build on it

agreed?

so, lets all pull together, make this community of close knit friends, the greatest, most respected spot on the net..bar none

Must be a Maritimer thing as I have had the exact thoughts lately. I've been around here for about a year. I know less than most about the machines but am learning and anything I have learned I owe to you guys. I am grateful for that. I hope to be able to share with others as time progresses and pay it forward. More than that though, I enjoy the commorodary and friendship I have gained by being here. Life is tough for all of us, in our own way. Coming on here and chatting with and ribbing people from all over the world who share a common bond is a unique pleasure many in life do not get to enjoy. But I too have felt that lately, it's not as much fun. Common decency has seemed to have slipped away on too many occassions. In my opinion, that is totally unnecessary and totally uncalled for. I do not come here to be called names and have stupid threats of sorts said to me and I do not enjoy seeing it done to someone else. Thankfully it is not common but honestly, it happens. I can get that anywhere else in life and business. This is a sanctuary from that, or at least it should be. I value each of you and I for one can guarantee I will not partake in any actions of the sort John speaks of. If you wish to have a honor code agreed to or committed to, I'd be all for it. Violating the code results in revocation of membership. Just an idea.
Thank you to all of you for putting up with my dumb questions over the past year and for so generously sharing your wealth of knowledge.

I hear and agree with you John, I've been a little surprised at the welcome some new members have gotten and some of the unnecessary squabling that has taken place over the past weeks.

Essentially, we are just like any community. Not all people are going to see eye to eye and everybody is entitled to their own opinions and should not be shunned for them.

I think that instead we should acknowledge our differences and celebrate them because they are what give our community life and color. We need to remember that we are here for entertainment as well as to give or receive our expertise.

People join here mostly to learn from others who have already been there or to obtain things that they just can't find other places, but people stay because this is a fun place and a fun bunch of people

It's been said that we should all have thick skin, and for the most part we do, but if somebodies first post is completely flamed down, then we are not starting out on the right foot. It reflects poorly on the community as a whole.

Just some of my thoughts.

hi fella, just wanted to say how much i appreciated your help with my problems,the other is sat on the couch right now,looking over my sholder!.Anyway your a cool guy,honest,and like you said,one of the elders.You deserve a little respect,and i sure glad your here with all the other guys,this place is like a second home.

dont leave smokes, i agree that some people have no couth in introductions especially. My own personal experiences here have taught me though that not to judge a book by the rum it drinks (Gene!!) but as ive posted and roamed around on here ive come to realize that i have stumbled onto some great people with a wealth of knowledge and expertise i desperately need and consider every member of this board a friend, If i was to meet any of yall on the street id not hesitate to buy you a beer. I've been around now for a couple years mostly as a silent member. I've learned much and you all made me feel like part of the family even though I've didn't have much to contribute. When the site went down and I tried to connect and couldn't I really got worried I thought it was all over. I kept trying any chance I got and was really relieved when the site was resereccted.

I've witnessed some back and forth lets call it interaction and kind of ignored it but when it came down to it and someone needed help everyone pulls together and makes sure whoever's problem is resolved. You're all been so welcome to lend a helping hand and to make sure everyones problems get resolved.

And that's why I STICK AROUND it's a place all and all where we can go where we can depend on everyone to help beer

and I've seen first hand it's not alway a mechanical issue that you all help with it can be anything.

Anyway I might have thick skin (been in the corporate world for 28+ years) but I'd really hate to see you go John it's people like you that keep people like me here and make us feel like we belong even if we're not one of the biggest contributiors we still, at least in my case feel this is a place we can fit in. I'm usually here at least a couple times a day not just when I have a problem. I just like to see what's going on.

Ok enough babling from me just wanted to share why I think this place is worth hanging in there for. I hope you have second thoughts and sitck around.

Wow holysmokes...hang in there bro and let a new guy who's still suckin' tit tell you that you guys are incredible!! Every other Joe on the planet with worthless advice won't get off there ass to help a guy out unless their taken your money. Bad service and crappy products...they don't have time to talk to you and they act like their doing you a favor.

No my friend you provide old school knowledge and common sense and it's all about what motorcycling use to be. Helping each other out first, covering each others back, and making sure no one gets left behind.

Stick it out for us snot noses who puff our chest out when we join the forum. We're just hoping we don't get abused here like we do in the world. I appreciate you guys and I see we have a lot of different ways to do things and I'm not upset to be called an A-hole if I'm acting like one.

Bolo, yeh have a point there, and that's why I have a hard time understanding the whole point of this lament here.

We are just a bunch of guys for most part, but really, we're just a bunch of bikers. What the fuck you want???

I work in the TV environment, Multi Billion Dollar environment... we don't always all agree, but we always have the opportunity to work it out, because the reason we're here is that we're all old pros, FFS!

There are no hurt feelings. There is only the right thing to do for all of us. In the case of football, my work, that's about 350 people every week. We can make an exception for somebody one or two times, for medical or family reasons, but then the higher ups want to know why. They have to approve all irregularities, and they do so easilly at first.

But if it comes to every week. we're gonna grille ya, me too.
