So I'm very new to all of this. Just got my first bike 4 days ago, it's an '82 CB750 Nighthawk.
Compared to the dirt bikes I rode growing up, and the small street bikes my buddy let me ride occasionally, this thing is a TANK!

First things first, she runs excellent. Starts cold with one bump of the starter if the choke is on.
The gas tank has surface rust, I'm gonna clean it out and POR-15 it.
I'm leaking a little oil at the valve cover gasket. I'm going to change that while I have the tank off.
Then a few minor cosmetic details and she'll be good as new.

I'll post pictures as soon as I upload some.
I'm a hobby photographer, so I take lots of good pictures!

MmmBRAP... Welcome to here!
When you change the valve cover gasket, you should adjust the valves, or at least check to be sure they are between
.004" and .006". Don't go by what the manual says.
And adjust the cam chains while the lid is off too.

We love pictures here....... Wink

Welcome

If you haven't already, please read through the New Members Thread linked in my signature.

You might take a look at SeanG's new to you checklist. It's a really good summary of all the (often over looked) maintenance these bikes need.

Welcome! This is my 1st DOHC 750 too. Every piece of info needed to maintain or upgrade these machines is on this site.....somewhere. Poke around and get familiar with the search tool. Curiosity is a good thing here. Some real nuggets of info can be found, with patience.

I'm gonna need a little help with the valve adjustment, but I'll get it figured out.

Thank you guys so much for the warm welcome!
Here are some pictures for you guys.
My name is Noah by the way, I forgot to mention that.

You can resize your pics in PB rather easily. You will have the option to either replace the original or keep the edited version.
