Hello one and all. Just a line to introduce myself and line you up for the hard questions ahead.
Bless me father for I have sinned. It has been some 30 odd years since I last owned a motorcycle. I am now on my fourth mid-life crisis and have purchased a 1979 Honda CB750K which is in a clean condition but runs, (just), with the hammering of the Devil coming from the bowels of the engine. For penitence, I will make good and strip the beast to its component parts.
With a good wind and an awful lot of help/advice I hope to start the restoration in the next couple of months and I am also contemplating documenting the process as I go, so any advice before I start would be much appreciated.
Before I do start I am sorting out my tools and workshop and my first question relates to Torque Wrenches. My Haynes manual states that I should be tightening nuts/bolts/fastening to between 2.5 and 72 lbf ft. but when I look at buying wrenches they don't seem to cover the whole range and the difference in price between makes is vast. Any help would be appreciated.[img][/img][img][/img] |

It's harder to break big bolts than little ones. The wrench at the lower end will get the most use. Here in the states most auto parts stores have loaner tool programs? |
