Newbie 80 750C owner

Hello all!
Proud new owner of a well used 1980 750C. Previous owner removed carbs to have rebuilt @ $800.00 and decided it was not to his liking. So I acquired the bike for a low low price of $0. But I now I have all the disassembled carbs in a plastic bag that I need to make a decision on. Do I rebuild them myself (never attempted this type of engineering feat before) or buy NOS/Aftermarket if I can find one, or have it professionally rebuilt at something less than $800.00. I guess the old adage of "Even a free scoot is gonna cost ya!" applies. So I will ask all you veterans to chime in and let me know what you have done in the past, and what I should look out for.

I am really considering a complete frame off restoration, not so much for the reason of having a trophy bike, but maybe as a means of therapy and for a challenge that would normally be out of my normal skill set. I am not in a hurry to get it road ready as I do have a Cruiser in the stable already.

My current ride is a 2003 Honda VTX 1800C (C theme huh!) and I thoroughly enjoy riding when I can. Once I master the pic posting I will post up both scoots.

Yes, I am busy reading all the post I can, so I try hard not to re-ask the same questions. But with 2 Honda boards to keep up with (www.vtxoa.com) I imagine I will miss a post or 73.

Welcome to the site, Just FYI, you can get a far superior set of CR carbs for $700 but also should be able to get yours working or a rebuilt set of CV's for FAR less $$$.

Welcome to DOHC Customs.
Ebay will have a bank of carbs for your bike at a reasonable price.

Sean is a pro , but letting him do the carb rebuild does little to heal and build your knowledge base .

I did something along the same lines , healing and building knowledge .

The job is easy if you are the least bit organized . You already have a major advantage by not being in a hurry .

At least you came to the right place for fixing yer bike . I ain't sure , but we might just set you back on the mental part ... LOL

JK , of course . These are a great bunch and more than willing to help , cause we like a challenge , too . Very Happy
