Good evening Everyone.
I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum and let you all know how great of a resource the site seems to be.
I just picked up a 79 CB750 dohc from one of my neighbors today that currently is not running. He cleaned and rebuilt the carbs over the winter and had it running with some backfiring recently. He thinks that the timing may be off but ill have a look for myself in the next couple days.
Before I started any work I wanted to do some research and I came across the site. Everything seems well organized and very friendly. I will get some pictures up tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to contribute to the site in a positive way.
This will be my 3rd bike, previously had a 636 Ninja and a Ducati 848 Evo. My plans going forward are to get the bike running well and go with a cafe style build.
Thank you all in advance.

If you haven't already, please read through the New Members Thread linked in my signature.
Dirty carbs are not uncommon on these models. There's a number of tricky passages that can get missed during a cleaning. Member SeanG has written a very nice carb cleaning manual. I'd suggest going back through the carbs again and follow his procedure.
And you'll need to have the airbox and paper filter installed and no rips or tears anywhere in the intake system. The intake is a delicate eco-system and it has to be just right before the motor will run properly. |
