According to SeanG's instruction it's 3 turn out but Honda manual says 1,3/4 . I was wondering which one should I follow ?
I have another question that what would happen in long/short-term if a bike runs lean or rich ?

I'm not going to argue with Sean, but 1 3/4 turns out sounds right. Maybe a typo.? Confused

It's a PILOT screw .

1 3/4 was to appease the EPA , not performance .

Remember that every machine is different and so the 3 turns out is simply a starting point . Your machine may be best at 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 ???

Too rich will make your motor will gain carbon and lose performance and the other side , too lean , will burn metal to the point of uselessness .

set them at 3 turns out, then ride it

if it bogs, turn them out 1/2 turn each more

it isn't rocket science

How would you know if you might like a new recipe ?

Try it . If it doesn't work try something else ...

Trial and error.

I was bored and messed with mine only to learn that 2.5 was right go figure. That is what the CB900 calls for.

The Honda manual describes an "idle drop" procedure. The setting that it gives is a starting point. I don't remember the exact procedure (it's in the manual anyway) but you're supposed to have a precision tach hooked up and then adjust the screws to their final setting. This is a somewhat involved procedure and Sean has given us a shortcut around it. I'd recommend to start with the screws where he says, then adjust if necessary. I never found it necessary to change mine.

Never could get an idle-drop to work. But what I DID do was plug a Colour-Tune in and adjust the pilots to max blue - turns out it was right at 2-1/2 turns on my 900. I haven't tried it on a 750 or 1000, but I'll bet it's mighty close to what my doc calls out (btw, those settings in my doc are the consolidated wisdom of the gray-beards here on this and the 1100F board, not just my ego-based suggestions)...
